Niantic has announced a new Pokemon GO Tour starring creatures from the Unova region introduced in Black and White. Pokemon GO tours are highly anticipated by players, offering the chance to encounter rare Pokemon and complete their Pokedex collections with regional variants.
Pokemon GO Tours have become a staple of Niantic mobile game's event lineup. These region-themed celebrations let players explore and capture Pokemon tied to specific areas from the mainline games. Held annually, these events typically focus on a single Pokemon generation, encouraging participation through exclusive rewards, timed challenges, and encounters. Past events like Pokemon GO Sinnoh Tour 2024 and previous editions that highlighted creatures from Kanto and Johto have been successful, with players attending real-world events and taking part in the celebrations from all over the world.

The newly announced Pokemon GO Unova Tour will take place in early 2025, following the pattern set by previous tours. There are both global and in-person event options, with physical events scheduled for Los Angeles and New Taipei City on February 23-25. One-day tickets for these real-world events cost $30 and offer access to exclusive content like increased spawn rates for Unova-region Pokemon, Shiny hunting opportunities, and themed Special Research quests. Players participating in person will enjoy unique bonuses and local activities unavailable elsewhere, and can upgrade their tickets with specific add-ons ranging from $15 to $20 for even better rewards. Players outside of Los Angeles and New Taipei City can join the Pokemon GO Unova Tour for free, but won’t benefit from these exclusive rewards.
Between March 1-2 2025, all Pokemon GO Unova Tour participants will encounter iconic creatures like Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott in the wild, along with opportunities to battle raid bosses such as Reshiram and Zekrom. Specific Shiny Pokemon will also have a chance to appear, such as Meloetta, Maractus, Sigilyph, Bouffalant, and seasonal versions of Deerling. Unown U, N, O, V, and A will be attracted by Incense, for those who wish to spell Unova in their Pokedex. Getting an Unown in Pokemon GO isn’t an easy feat, but lucky trainers can get the chance to encounter a Shiny version of these rare creatures during the event.
While the Pokemon GO community prepares for the Unova Tour, Niantic has announced another event: the Pokemon GO Aspiring Dragons Research Day. Scheduled for December 7, this one-day event will focus on Dragon-type Pokemon, with trainers completing research tasks to encounter creatures like Horsea and Skrelp. Several other Pokemon will have an increased spawn rate in the wild, such as Dwebble, Crustle, and Binacle.
