Genshin Impact is enormous, and the tutorial only teaches you a fraction of its systems. These are the decisions that matter most in your first forty hours.
Understand elemental reactions early
Damage in Genshin is not just about attack stats. Reactions — like Vaporise, Melt, Electro-Charged and Frozen — multiply your output. Building a team around two or three compatible elements beats chasing raw attack numbers.
A balanced team of four
A simple, effective structure: one main damage dealer, one elemental support to trigger reactions, one healer and one flexible slot. Sticking to this shape makes the open world and most bosses straightforward.
Where to spend resin
Resin limits how much you can farm each day. Spend it on character EXP books, weapon materials and boss drops that match your main team — not on artefacts before Adventure Rank 45, when the guaranteed five-star sets unlock.
Exploration pays
Chests, waypoints and quests give primogems, the currency that gets you more characters. Exploring methodically is how free-to-play players keep up.
Do not spread resources thin
Level your main four. Levelling ten characters equally leaves you with nobody who can clear the hardest content.
Need something lighter while resin recharges? Little Alchemy scratches a very similar "combine things and see what happens" itch, instantly in your browser.
